Miami-Dade County adopts the Homestead community redevelopment plan by Resolution R-915-94 and creates the trust fund by Ordinance 94-125 on 7 June 1994, two years after Hurricane Andrew. In fiscal 2013 to 2014 the county contributes $801,400 and the city $990,200 in tax increment; the 2024 audit reports $8.24 million of combined city and county increment. The agency was set to sunset in 2028 but the plan was amended in 2020 to extend its life through 2051. Its projects include Seminole Theatre roof repairs, Blakey Park, Washington Avenue and SW 4th Street improvements and residential and commercial grant programs.
