On 1 September 2022 the Miami-Dade County Commission votes on an ordinance expanding the Rapid Transit Zone, a county controlled zoning district around transit, to all Metrorail corridors and stations, the South Dade Transitway and all planned SMART Plan corridors, to foster high density development near transit. The Transitway itself runs 20 miles from Dadeland South to SW 344th Street with 14 stations and a $368 million design build contract. The year given is the expansion to South Dade; the zone itself dates from the Metrorail era.
Detail: 14 BRT stations; $368 million design build contract
