The Seminole Theatre opens on North Krome Avenue on 26 November 1921 with about 500 seats. It burns in March 1940 and is rebuilt the same year in Streamline Moderne style by architect Roy A. Benjamin, closes in 1979, is damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and is donated to the city in 1993. Homestead voters approve a 5 million dollar bond in May 2014 and the restored theatre reopens in late 2015, first on 28 October and with a grand opening gala on 12 December, with OVG Facilities managing it for the city.
