Congress passes House Resolution 5620 on 18 September 1992 providing $11.1 billion in disaster relief after Andrew, Iniki and Omar, about $9 billion of it for Florida. FEMA places 3,501 families in temporary mobile homes and aids more than 40,000 families with housing and repairs; the Department of Defense spends more than $100 million repairing Homestead Air Force Base. By July 1994 about 36,000 homes in the county are restored and about 70 percent of damaged Homestead homes are repaired or rebuilt.
