Electra America, its affiliate American Landmark and BH Group announce the $1 billion redevelopment of the 80 acre Southland Mall site on 20 September 2022 after buying it in May 2022, with 4,395 market rate apartments, a hotel, offices and retail phased over seven years under existing town code. Tyko Capital provides a $125 million predevelopment loan in November 2024. The first phase, The Current with 350 units, breaks ground on 27 February 2025 for delivery in 2027, within a plan now put at $1.5 billion and 4,295 apartments.
