The Palmetto Bay council approves by a 3 to 2 vote in 2025 a plan for the Palmetto Bay Village Center site on Old Cutler Road with 450 residential units, 133,000 square feet of commercial space, a 120 room hotel and buildings up to ten stories, after a judge overturns the village's earlier rejection of the developer's proposal. Vice Mayor Mark Merwitzer opposes it in a July 2025 column; the developer is not named in that source.
