Opens in 1960 as Cutler Ridge Shopping Center and grows into the enclosed Cutler Ridge Mall with a grand reopening in 1978 under developer DeBartolo. Hurricane Andrew nearly destroys it in August 1992 and only the Sears survives from the original center when it reopens in 1993. The mall is renamed Southland Mall in November 2003. Electra America, American Landmark and BH Group buy the 80 acre site in May 2022 for a reported $100 million and break ground on the Southplace City Center redevelopment on 27 February 2025.
