The county breaks ground on 25 June 2024 at SW 127th Avenue and Biscayne Drive in Homestead on a depot for 100 articulated battery electric buses, with maintenance, dispatch, driver training and an emergency command role. The county calls it the first major transit garage built in 40 years and expects more than 270 jobs, with partial opening in summer 2025 and completion in summer 2026. It is the depot for the Metro Express fleet.
