FDOT rebuilds Krome Avenue from two lanes to four lanes with a grassed median in 22 projects from Okeechobee Road to SW 296th Street, a program estimated at $496.6 million in 2014 with construction from 2015. The Redland segment from SW 232nd Street to SW 312th Street is built from January 2020 to 15 January 2021 with a new signal at SW 272nd Street and two bridges. Redland and Homestead residents and farmers oppose the widening over rural character.
