On 30 August 2018 the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization board votes 15 to 7 for bus rapid transit rather than Metrorail on the South Dade corridor, choosing a roughly $300 million project over a rail estimate of $1.3 billion. The FTA confirms a $100 million Small Starts grant on 29 May 2020, matched by $100 million each from FDOT and the county half penny surtax. Notice to proceed is issued 2 February 2021, groundbreaking follows on 4 June 2021, and the county says construction reaches 99 percent in October 2025 as service starts.
Detail: 14 new stations, 32 rehabilitated local bus stops, 46 gated crossings (county project page); FTA profile 16 stations
