Charles Deering (1852 to 1927), chairman of International Harvester, buys the Richmond Cottage at Cutler in 1916 and builds the Stone House in 1922, where he keeps an art collection valued at 60 million dollars in 1922. He also donates 25 acres at Buena Vista to the USDA plant garden in 1914.
