Congress authorises CERP in the Water Resources Development Act of 2000 as a joint programme of the US Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District, first estimated at 7.8 to 8.2 billion dollars over 30 years and now expected to run about 50 years. Its South Dade components are the C-111 Spreader Canal and the Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands, which move fresh water back into Everglades National Park, Florida Bay and Biscayne Bay.
