Royal Palm State Park is established on 23 November 1916 on Paradise Key near Florida City and run by the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs under May Mann Jennings. Its 4,000 acres protect the largest stand of royal palms and it operates until October 1947, when it passes to Everglades National Park and becomes the park's first visitor area.
