University of Miami student William Godfrey arranges the donation of FEC locomotive 153 in 1957 and the Miami Railroad Historical Society begins the museum on the tracks of the old Richmond naval station. Government needs force a move to Fort Lauderdale in 1966 and the museum returns to Richmond in 1983 to 1984 beside the zoo, when the legislature names it an official state railroad museum. It holds more than 30 pieces including the presidential Pullman Ferdinand Magellan.
