Ernest Coe (1867 to 1951) moves to Miami in 1925 and in 1928 founds the Everglades Tropical National Park Association with David Fairchild, Bowman Ashe and Marjory Stoneman Douglas. He drafts the park proposal that Congress passes in May 1934 and attends the 1947 dedication though the park is smaller than he wanted. The main visitor centre near Homestead is named for him in 1997.
