A children's programme starts on the Florida City United Methodist Church property in 1993 after Hurricane Andrew and is formally created as Branches in August 1994 with 20 children. It merges into South Florida Urban Ministries, founded in 1973 as Miami Urban Ministries and renamed Branches in 2013, and opens the Trish and Dan Bell Family Branches Center in 2015 to serve more than 1,500 people a year.
