The rodeo arena on the former Homestead city airport is first used in 1958 and the grounds are dedicated as Tom J. Harris Field in 1960 for the former mayor. The arena is rededicated in 1989 as the Doc DeMilly Rodeo Arena for HRA president Dr. John W. DeMilly. Hurricane Andrew destroys the grounds in 1992 and the rodeo returns in 1994.
