Farmworkers Estefana and Pablo Hernandez open a tortilla factory on Krome Avenue in 1976 and in 1977 begin selling prepared food from a truck to agricultural workers. The business grows into the El Toro Taco restaurant, survives Pablo's death and Hurricane Andrew, and by 2017 employs six family members across generations.
