Contractor John F. Umphrey completes the Homestead Town Hall in 1917 to a design by Harold Hastings Mundy for 4,418 dollars. It houses city offices, the fire trucks and the jail until the city moves to 790 North Homestead Boulevard in 1975. After preservation efforts in the 1980s the building opens as a museum in late 1994 and it also digitises Homestead's early newspapers.
