William H. Cauley builds the village in 1903 on ten acres beside the Florida East Coast Railway to ship his tomatoes north and house railway workers. Hurricane Andrew causes more than one million dollars of damage in 1992 and most of the main building's second floor is demolished before repairs. Miami-Dade County declares it a historic site in 1994 and it operates as a village of shops and restaurants at 22400 Old Dixie Highway.
