Jess Knaus moves to Miami in 1924 and returns to farming after the 1926 hurricane ends the building boom; his sons Russell and Ray start raising strawberries about 1954 and open Knaus Berry Farm in 1956 on SW 248th Street. After nearly seven decades the family sells in 2025 to new owners led by Joel White, who reopen the stand in December 2025 at 16790 SW 177th Avenue with the family as consultants. The farm operates seasonally from late fall to spring.
