Steve Losner, a lawyer and fourth generation Homestead resident, serves six years as vice mayor before winning the mayor's office in 2019. He is re elected in a November 2021 runoff over Elvis Maldonado by 1,693 to 1,635 and wins a third term in November 2025 with 60 percent against Julio Guzman, the first four year mayoral term.
