John Cosgrove, born in 1949, represents the 119th district in the Florida House from 1986 to 2000 and is the Democratic nominee for state treasurer in 2000. He is elected the first mayor of Cutler Bay in January 2006 and dies on 19 April 2006 after an appendectomy in Zimbabwe. A stretch of the Turnpike's Homestead Extension is named the John F. Cosgrove Highway in 2007.
