Gaston Drake founds a depot town on the Florida East Coast Railway in the 1900s and names it Princeton for his alma mater, painting its buildings in the university's colours. His saw mill and lumber company supply Miami, the Keys and Cuba until the local timber gives out in 1923. The exact founding year is not stated in the sources used; 1905 is the railroad era.
