Miami-Dade County adopts its Parks and Open Space Master Plan in 2008 after a two year process begun in 2006, replacing a 1969 plan. It links parks, greenways, waterways and streets under placemaking, conservation and health themes across a 262 park, 12,668 acre system that includes the South Dade heritage parks at Homestead Bayfront and Black Point.
