The county Department of Planning and Zoning holds a charrette from 21 to 28 June 2002 for the 2.5 mile stretch of Old Cutler Road between SW 200th and SW 224th Streets. It recommends roundabouts at SW 87th and 97th Avenues, sidewalks and street trees, connected streets and a civic district or town centre east of the road. The commission accepts the plan on 13 April 2004, a year before Cutler Bay incorporates.
