Opens in 1940 as the ten bed James Archer Smith Hospital. South Miami Hospital buys it in 1990, renames it Homestead Hospital in 1991 and it joins Baptist Health in the mid 1990s. The hospital closes for two weeks after Hurricane Andrew in 1992 while a National Guard field hospital operates on site. A new campus at 975 Baptist Way opens in 2007 and the hospital holds 147 beds.
