Cutler Ridge is platted from 1954 to 1958 and named for Dr William Cutler and the limestone ridge, followed by Whispering Pines in 1956, Bel Aire from 1957, Saga Bay in 1972 and Lakes by the Bay in 1983. Hurricane Andrew makes landfall near Cutler Ridge in 1992 and leaves the area in almost total destruction. The Cutler Ridge CDP becomes the Town of Cutler Bay in 2005, though many residents keep the old name.
