The Public Health Trust buys the former Deering Hospital in Perrine in 2001 and renames it Jackson South Community Hospital. The county's 2019 bond book records 226 licensed beds in 2015 rising to 262 beds by 2019. A helipad is approved in 2013 and a provisional Level II trauma center opens in 2016.
