The 36 square mile Perrine Grant of 1838 runs from the bay westward across today's Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay, Perrine and Goulds. Squatters form a union on it in 1886 and after litigation with the Perrine heirs and the Florida East Coast Railway the tract is divided by 1909, with 2,000 acres to squatters, 10,000 to the Perrine family and 5,000 each to two railroad companies. Flagler's Model Land Company controls the railroad share.
