The population series, eight ZCTAs

The map's population figures are its own and are stated so they can be reproduced. The geography is the eight ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) 33030, 33031, 33032, 33033, 33034, 33035, 33170 and 33189, which cover Homestead, Florida City, the Redland, Princeton and Naranja, Leisure City, Goulds and east Cutler Bay. The figures are the 2010 and 2020 Census counts and the American Community Survey five year total population (table B01003) for each vintage, summed across the eight areas. The set omits west Cutler Bay (33190) and the communities north of SW 136th Street that share ZIP codes with places outside the frame (Palmetto Bay, Perrine, Richmond Heights, South Miami Heights and Palmetto Estates in 33157, 33176, 33177 and 33187), so the series understates the population of the full frame and is a consistent measure of its southern and central core rather than a total. The eight ZCTA series rises from 191,276 in the 2010 Census to 265,396 in the ACS 2020 to 2024 five year estimate. The largest increase between consecutive displayed series points is 23,391, between the 2010 Census and ACS 2011 to 2015. The latest displayed step is 10,273. The communities

Decennial counts and the latest estimate for each community hub, with the number of nodes the map places in it. Perrine has no count of its own after 2002, when East Perrine went into Palmetto Bay; the Redland CDP exists only for the 2010 Census. Counts by community are nodes on this map, not the size of each community's economy.
